Japanese Premiere of Something to Cry About

Screening precedes a Special Talk by Yoshino Akira / Yoshinoyugi, Ritsumeikan University Kinugasa Research Organization Research Fellow.

The filmmaker Jules Rosskam has created a large body of internationally acclaimed work centered around the experiences of transgender people. This year we will be screening his new feature length film and new short film, along with his older essential work "against a trans narrative", a powerful exploration of trans-masculine identity and gender. These three works, which show how Rosskam has developed as a director over the past 10 years, also serve as a preview for our ambition to hold a retrospective of all of Rosskam's works at KQFF2019. — Makoto Hibino
